EVERYONE BACK UP…I’ve had training
Finely honed
Over a 20 year career in emergency 911 dispatching a person gets a lot of training. In service training, certifications, recertifications and continuing education are all part of the deal. Early in my career, a lot of that training was in person but as the years went on more and more of our training became web based. It makes sense, less paying for travel time and schedule adjustments to fill in for dispatchers who were away for required training or certifications. Plus, as web based training became cheaper and easier to schedule and complete, it became easier for 911 managers to find more and more training topics that became available. Like a course I took for train disasters on October 13, 2014…
Don’t worry, No incoming puns about TRAINing. Oops, I did it. Here’s a sampling of training and certifications I completed over 20 years;
Emergency Medical Dispatch
LEADS Certification
Sex Offender Registration
Handling Domestic Violence
Severe Weather Disasters/Spotter
Hostage Negotiations
Crisis Communications
Suicide Intervention
Active Shooter Response
And endless in house program end user training, equipment training, in service and certifications. Thank God I also had a train disaster course to tell me a train will fuck you up and the reason a train will fuck you up is that it’s big and fast. I left the job before I could take the course on bullets.
